Hardware store burglary spreads panic in Eastern Bypass area of Siliguri

Siliguri, 19th November: A burglary at a hardware store near Bura Buri Temple on Siliguri’s Eastern Bypass has created panic among locals.


As per reports, the store owner, Shankar Sen, had closed the shop on Tuesday night and returned home. On Wednesday morning, he discovered that the store had been broken into.

The gang of thieves entered by cutting the tin and breaking the ceiling, stealing cash from the counter and valuable machinery. The loss is estimated to be in lakhs of rupees. Police from Ashighar Outpost reached the spot after receiving information.


The store owner stated that the gang had deleted the CCTV footage capturing the burglary. Continuous incidents of theft in the Eastern Bypass area are raising fear among traders, who have demanded increased police patrolling at night. Ashighar Outpost police have begun a thorough investigation into the incident.
