Siliguri, 01st August: The Haiderpara Sporting Club of Siliguri started preparations for Durga Puja today through Khunti Puja. This year will be the 53rd year of the club celebrating the festival. This
Club secretary Nimai Paul stated that this year the theme of the puja will be “Amra Gai Prakritir Gaan, Bachbo Sabuj Hasbi Pran”. This has been kept to raise awareness regarding rising issue of deforestation and to save the environment.
During this program, Deputy Mayor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation Ranjan Sarkar, Mayor Council Dulal Dutta, Manik Dey, Munna Prasad, Pinky Saha, and others were present.
