On Thursday, Chief Executive of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), Anit Thapa, along with other officials of GTA and BGPM, arrived at the flood-inflicted area in efforts to inspect the situation.
As per reports, several areas in the highlands have been severely damaged due to the sudden flooding of the Teesta River. In view of the unprecedented disaster, GTA Chairman Anit Thapa landed at the Bagdogra Aiport on Wednesday and arrived at the affected areas to assess the entire situation. In addition, he visited the flood victims and inquired about their problems and inconveniences.
While addressing the media, Thapa claimed to have arrived to work for the victims rather than reassuring them. He further asserted perishing by drowning in the Teesta River if he was unable to provide for the affected people.
