Siliguri, 24th April: Siliguri Town GRP discovered the dead body of an unidentified teenage girl near the Batasi Railway Line on the late night of April 21. After the identification of the deceased, her relatives lodged a complaint with the Naxalbari Junction GRP expressing fears of murder. The post-mortem report later revealed that the girl was pregnant.
The GRP sent a photo of the deceased to all police stations for identification, and on Sunday, it was discovered that a missing complaint of a teenager had been lodged at Kharibari police station. The girl was identified after contacting the police station. Subsequently, the family members of the teenager lodged a complaint of murder against her lover, and based on the complaint, the Town GRP arrested a youth named Samrat Sarkar.
The accused was presented in Siliguri Divisional Court and taken on remand for 13 days. The GRP has initiated an investigation into the matter, and the relatives of the deceased teenager have demanded the harshest punishment for the accused. The family members were crying in distress when the dead body of the teenager was brought back to her home.
