Grandsons organize unique funeral service after 106-year-old man dies in Siliguri

Siliguri, 20th November: 106-year-old man from the Durga Nagar area of Siliguri, Ayodhya Shah, passed away on Tuesday evening. In a heartfelt tribute to his life, his grandsons organized a unique cremation procession, accompanied by band music.


Despite his age, Ayodhya Shah had been in fairly good health. He was particularly known for his regular early morning prayer sessions. However, a few days ago, he suffered an injury after falling from the stairs that led to a decline in his health. On Tuesday night, the elderly man took his last breath.

Shah’s family members mentioned that he had never been seriously affected by age-related illnesses, even at the age of 106. He followed a strict vegetarian diet and spent time engaging with his community and visiting the local areas.


The passing of the elderly has left the entire area in mourning. To mark his final journey, his grandsons ensured honoured him with the band party on the way to the cremation ground.
