Siliguri, 05th May: On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, a peaceful and vibrant procession was taken out at Bagdogra today. The parade started from the Buddhist Monastery located at Dara Gaon and circumambulated different areas of Bagdogra, passing by the Buddhist Monastery near Panighata More.
The Buddhist Monastery at Dara Gaon, established in 1973, is celebrating its 50th anniversary today. To mark this occasion, a parade was organized with the idol of Gautam Buddha decorated in a palanquin. Akash Lama, President of the Buddha Monastery Committee, extended his greetings and conveyed a message of peace to the citizens on Buddha Purnima. He also highlighted the significance of the day, stating that Gautam Buddha was born on this day and attained enlightenment on this day.
