Siliguri, 02nd July: West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose met with the victim of the recent atrocity in Cooch Behar at the Siliguri Guest House. The victim, associated with the BJP, was allegedly stripped and beaten by TMC activists. The incident raised questions in regard to the law and order of the state.
During the meeting, Governor Bose listened to the woman’s unsettling experience and expressed grave concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. While addressing the media at the Circuit House, he criticized the surge in violence since the elections and called upon the Chief Minister to take decisive action to restore order and ensure the safety of citizens.
He highlighted that the incidents of violence have escalated significantly and the Chief Minister is expected to pay special attention to the issue. He further stated that it was his responsibility as the Governor to protect the interests of the citizens and thus he would perform his duty accordingly.
On the other hand, after meeting the Governor, the victim woman from Cooch Behar alleged that the goons of TMC stripped her and assaulted her after the Panchayat elections because she was associated with the BJP. She further asserted not trusting the law enforcement working under the state government and has reported the entire incident to the Governor. The Governor has henceforth assured her justice.
