Gajaldoba, 23rd May: The government extended financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of two youths killed in a recent elephant attack in Takimari, Gajaldoba. Each family received a cheque of Rs 5 lakh, handed over by Baikunthpur Forest Division DFO M Raja and Rajganj MLA Khageshwar Roy.
It is to be noted that, the deceased, Tushar Das and Narayan Das, were killed in the tragic incident, prompting a swift response from the administration. The cheque distribution took place in the presence of Gazaldoba Outpost OC Hirukanti Sarkar, Belakoba Range Ranger Chiranjit Pal, and other public representatives.
In addition to financial aid, the officials assured that one member from each bereaved family would soon be given a government job. MLA Khageshwar Roy stated that necessary steps are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future, expressing solidarity with the affected families.
DFO M Raja further informed that a temporary elephant monitoring camp has already been established in Takimari to manage elephant movements. Two local quick response teams (QRTs) have also been formed with community members to monitor elephant activity and take immediate action if needed. Two additional vehicles have been deployed to support the efforts.
