Goa Nightclub Fire: Bagdogra youth’s body brought home amid mourning

Bagdogra, 09th December: The body of 24-year-old Subhash Chhetri, a resident of Banur Chhat area in Bagdogra, who died in a fire invident triggered by cylinder explosion at a nightclub in Goa, has been brought home, casting a shadow of grief over the local community. The tragic incident on Sunday night at a Goa nightclub claimed the lives of 25 people in total.


Subhash had traveled to Goa in 2023 to work at the nightclub. His body arrived at Bagdogra Airport on Tuesday, and family, friends, and locals gathered to pay their respects. Overcome with grief, Subhash’s mother, Tonka Maya Chhetri, was seen mourning her only son.

Former MLA Choton Kisku, Roma Reshmi Ekka, and other community members paid tribute to the young man. Sources noted that Subhash was the sole support of his family, and following his death, his family plans to write to the Chief Minister seeking assistance.
