Darjeeling, 15th May: Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) team under the leadership of Sandeep Limbu and Subash Subba President of Rimbick Lodhoma Samasty, distributed ration in the remote areas of Darjeeling Samanden, Gorkhay.
As per the information, there is no transport facility available in the areas, not even a proper road. Due to this, the rations being provided free of cost by the State and Central government amid the lockdown, have to be purchased by the people at a rate of Rs. 4 per kg as carrying charges. The goods have to be carried into the village on horses and the journey takes more than 2 hours on foot.
Even an educational institution is about 6 hours away from the village in Rimbick. Some villagers are left with no choice but to spend their entire savings on a place to stay in Rimbick for their children’s education.
The people of Samanden village are in great need of proper infrastructure and basic facilities. The GNLF party members urged the people to come and visit the village and provide help in any way.
