Siliguri, 31st October: Ever since the unforeseen public appearance of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha founder Bimal Gurung in Kolkata, the GJM supporters of Binay Tamang and Anit Thapa faction has been taking to the streets condemning the return of Gurung.
Likewise, a rally was organized against Bimal Gurung in Kurseong today during which the Morcha leaders, activists and supporters shouted slogans in support of Binay Tamang and Anit Thapa. The demonstrators condemned the return of Bimal Gurung accusing him of trying to disrupt peace in the Hills.
As hundreds of people march in the rally, a large police force was deployed in the town to avoid any untoward incidents.
It is to be noted, several cases under the Unlawful Activities and Prevention Act (UAPA) has been charged against GJM leader Bimal Gurung. After being on the run since 2017, Gurung dramatically appeared in Kolkata on October 21 where he broke ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and announced the alliance with Trinamool Congress for 2021 assembly elections.
