Siliguri, 06th March: A 9-year-old girl lost her life in a tragic road accident near Shahid Nagar Traffic Point, Raja Rammohan Roy Bridge, under Bhakti Nagar Traffic. The deceased has been identified as Deepika Roy, a resident of Prakash Nagar Dada Bhai Colony in Ward No. 43 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).
According to reports, on Thursday, a vehicle of the electricity department was traveling from Checkpost towards Raja Rammohan Roy Bridge when an auto, moving in the same direction. During the maneuver of overtaking, the auto collided with the electricity department’s vehicle, causing passengers to fall onto the road.
Among the injured was Deepika Roy, who sustained severe injuries in the accident. She was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Upon receiving the news, Bhakti Nagar Traffic Police and Bhakti Nagar Police Station personnel reached the spot and took both vehicles into custody. The girl’s body was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for postmortem. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
