Siliguri, 12th March: Hotel, restaurant and catering businesses in Siliguri are facing growing concerns due to ongoing problems related to cooking gas availability. Business owners say that if the situation continues for a few more days, many may be forced to shut down operations.
According to sources, commercial gas booking has remained unavailable for the past few days, creating uncertainty among those associated with the restaurant and catering sector. Business owners in Siliguri are waiting for the situation to return to normal.
Several hotels have reportedly reduced items from their menus in an attempt to conserve gas. As an alternative, some establishments have started using induction stoves and other electrical appliances, though owners say it is not proving to be an effective solution.
Hotel and catering operators said that some catering assignments taken earlier are now being cancelled due to the situation. They added that the gas currently in stock will last only a few days, after which they may have no option but to close their establishments if supply does not improve.
Meanwhile, many hotels in the city are currently hosting tourists, and authorities say it is becoming increasingly difficult to arrange regular meals for them under the present circumstances.
