Siliguri, 19th July: Starting today, Fuleshwari Bazaar has been closed for 7 days. During a meeting last week, the district administration decided to shut down the market for seven days as the number of coronavirus positive cases has not reduced.
Meanwhile, the district administration has also decided to shut down markets once a week in Darjeeling district, during which sanitation work will be carried out. The local administration will decide regarding the day when markets will remain closed.
Fuleshwari bazaar is closed since Monday morning. Fish, fruit, vegetable, grocery and all shops are closed. Police surveillance is also being kept in the market premises.
On the other hand, district administration sources said that if a rise in infection is witnessed in any area, that region will be immediately declared as a containment zone and the markets will also be shut down.
