Fulbari, 28th June: In an audacious theft case, a thief managed to steal an e-rickshaw after locking its owner in his own house. The incident took place in the Gatmabari area of Fulbari-II Gram Panchayat adjacent to Siliguri and sparked widespread concerns among locals.
As per reports, Khirakant Roy, a local resident, drove his e-rickshaw to support his livelihood. On Thursday night, he had parked the vehicle outside after charging it and fell asleep. Later, at 2:30 AM when he was leaving to cover the vehicle with plastic, he found that his door was locked from the outside. Unable to exit, Roy raised an alarm, which alerted his family members and neighbors.
The neighbors intervened and managed to open the door, allowing Roy to exit. However, by the time he stepped out, he realized that his vehicle had disappeared. Despite a search conducted in the dark, the vehicle could not be located. Subsequently, Khirakant Roy promptly reported the theft to the NJP police station and filed a formal complaint on Thursday. At present, the entire incident is under further police investigation.
