Rajganj, 17th February: Purified drinking water from Fulbari Water Treatment Plant is supplied to the city as well as North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. However, the residents of Fulbari-2 gram panchayat are deprived of this basic facility.
The PHE pipe in Fulbari ruptured several years ago. With no repair work initiated till now, water goes to waste in the irrigation canal. Due to this, the embankment of the irrigation canal is also being damaged. Locals claim to have been demanding PHE drinking water for a long time, but the administration has been turning a deaf ear to their pleas.
Meanwhile, Gram Panchayat Pradhan Dilip Roy alleged that he was not notified regarding the wastage of water. The issue will be informed to the PHE department soon, he further assured.
