Siliguri, 08th February: The Friendship Cup Cricket Tournament commenced at the Tarai Tarapada School ground on behalf of the Siliguri Taxation Bar Association. A total of 6 teams from Siliguri have participated in the competition.
The competition was inaugurated by Darjeeling MP Raju Bista. Other BJP leaders and activists were present during the event. Raju Bista stated that an international level stadium is required to make Siliguri a ‘sports city’. In this context, Bista appealed in writing, to Sourav Ganguly, the Chairman of BCCI. He stated that the construction of a stadium in Siliguri will not only be good for sports but also more attractive in terms of tourism. Ashok Bhattacharya, the MLA, and Mayor of Siliguri, also arrived at the school ground.
