Siliguri, 16th July: The ‘Fresh Waste Management Unit’ in Siliguri is set to commence operations in August, according to Siliguri Municipal Corporation Mayor Gautam Deb. This announcement followed his surprise visit to the city’s dumping ground on Tuesday morning.
The construction of the fresh waste management unit at the dumping ground began a long time ago, with an initial plan to inaugurate it in June. However, delays due to the slow pace of work have postponed its opening.
During his inspection, Mayor Gautam Deb emphasized the urgency of completing the project soon. Speaking to journalists, he confirmed that the unit would be operational by the first week of August. He also mentioned plans to enhance the security of the facility and install lock gates to ensure its protection.
