Jalpaiguri, 22nd March: A tragic road accident occurred, where a cement-laden truck crushed a child in Nayapara area of Jalpaiguri. The deceased child has been identified as Ravi Raut. (4)
As per reports, the incident occurred in front of Nayapara Primary School. After the incident, the locals seized the truck, blocked the Jalpaiguri-Siliguri state highway, and started protesting. Upon receiving the news, the Kotwali Police Station and traffic police reached the spot to restore order.
According to locals, the trucks parked to store potatoes in cold storage crowded the area, contributing to the accident. Abhijit Dasgupta, a teacher of Nayapara Primary School, confirmed that a cement-laden truck crushed the child.
