Siliguri, 01st September: In another significant breakthrough in the woman gang-rape case in Siliguri, police arrested four more accused involved in the case from Bagdogra. The arrested accused have been identified as Binod Kujur (27), Ankit Toppo (28), Ronit Sobar (29), and Suraj Sobar (28).
It has to be noted that, on 15 August, a young man lured a woman to accompany him, from an area under the Bagdogra Police Station, on the pretext of providing a job at the tea garden. During this, the woman was allegedly gang-raped by 6 men after intoxicating her with alcohol. Later, the girl managed to escape and narrated her ordeal to her family on Tuesday night. Subsequently, the victim’s family filed a complaint at the police station.
On the basis of the complaint, police arrested an accused identified as Nitin Toppo from Hanskhowa in Bagdogra. During subsequent investigations, on Thursday, four more accused have been arrested by the police. At present, police are engaged in further investigation.
