Bagdogra, 05th May: Four individuals, one of whom is a woman, were apprehended by the Special Operations Group (SOG) and Bagdogra police for possessing brown sugar worth lakhs. The arrested individuals are Uttara Biswas (38), Sanjay Biswas (42), Bikram Bagchi (23), and Arun Mandal (32). Reports state that Uttara and Sanjay reside in Samar Nagar, Siliguri, while Arun and Bikram are residents of Tambari in Phansidewa.
As per police sources, on Thursday night, the SOG and Bagdogra police carried out a joint operation in the Bhuttabari area of Bagdogra, based on a tip-off. The team stopped a four-wheeler and upon searching it, found 800 grams of brown sugar with a value of lakhs. Consequently, all four occupants of the vehicle were arrested. The police have already commenced an investigation into the matter, and today, all four suspects were presented before the Siliguri Divisional Court.
