Siliguri, 01st June: Siliguri Metropolitan Police’s Matigara police station personnel arrested four drug peddlers, including a woman, with brown sugar last night. The arrested have been identified as Sonam Shah – resident of Biswas Colony, Wasim Akram, Ansarul Momin and Mohammad Saddam Hussein – all residents of Malda.
Reportedly, the Matigara police, with the help of a tip-off, campaigned in the Bypass More last night. The team apprehended an i20 car on the basis of suspicion. During the search, 1 kg 200 grams of brown sugar and cash worth Rs 2 lakh were recovered from the vehicle. After which the four people inside the car were arrested under the NDPS Act.
While the accused were presented in the court today, the police have sought 7 days remand from the court to further investigate the matter.
