Kalimpong, 09th July: Kalimpong police have apprehended four individuals from a hotel in Sikkim in connection with the attack on the residence of BJP candidate Emanuel Lepcha and the subsequent assault on his 16-year-old daughter in Bhalukhop. The incident took place during the Panchayat Elections on Saturday. The arrested individuals have been identified as Saran Rai, Kishore Rai, Lachhuman Chhetri, and Bikash Khawas.
According to reports, when confronted during the attack, the accused individuals made an attempt to assault the minor, resulting in several injuries and the tearing of her clothes. In response to this incident, the Kalimpong Police Station promptly registered a case under No. 89/2023, citing the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), namely Section (U/S) 341/325/354/354B/427/452/34.
