Four arrested for misbehaving with a young woman and assaulting two youths in Siliguri

Siliguri, 03rd June: In a disturbing incident of bullying in Siliguri, a minor altercation over a game of ‘Ludo’ escalated to serious violence under the Bhakti Nagar police station’s jurisdiction. Two youths sustained serious injuries, and a young woman was reportedly misbehaved with while trying to protect her brother.


The Bhakti Nagar police have arrested four individuals identified as Sachin Roy, Siddharth Biswakarma, Raj Chhetri, and Anand Sharma, with Raj Chhetri identified as the main accused.

Reportedly, the incident occurred late on Sunday night near the Salugara army camp, where brothers Shubham Mandal and his sibling were playing Ludo under a shop shed during the rain. Raj Chhetri arrived in a vehicle and began arguing with the brothers. Allegedly, Chhetri called his gang, and they assaulted the brothers, breaking a beer bottle on Shubham Mandal’s head, causing severe injury.


Shubham’s sister, hearing the commotion, intervened to protect her brother but was met with rude behavior and assault from Chhetri and his gang.

Later, local residents intervened and managed to apprehend four of the assailants, handing them over to the police. The arrested individuals were presented in Jalpaiguri court on Monday. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
