Kharibari, 29th August: The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) seized firearms and arrested four individuals for illegally possessing the weapons at the Indo-Nepal border in Kharibari. The four individuals apprehended have been identified as Bikash Das, Narayan Das, and Shyamal Roy, from Malbazar in Jalpaiguri district, and Chandan Roy from Dhupguri.
Reportedly, the operation was carried out in the Panitanki Flyover area on Wednesday night following a tip-off. The SSB personnel from the 41st Battalion intercepted a pickup van and recovered a country-made pistol upon searching.
The arrested individuals have been handed over to Kharibari police. On Thursday, the arrested individuals were presented in the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court. At present, the entire incident is under further investigation.
