The foundation stone laying was carried out by the Sabhadhipati of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad.

The road projects will cover a total stretch of around three kilometres in the Kotia Jote, Khalbasti and Nehal Jote areas. The roads will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹80 lakh and are scheduled to be completed within the next three months. The commencement of the work has brought relief and happiness among local residents.

Addressing the gathering, the Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh said that development work is being carried out across villages under the inspiration of the Chief Minister, and the Mahakuma Parishad is actively working throughout the subdivision.

He added that the foundation stones for three new roads were laid as part of the ongoing rural development initiatives.

He also took a dig at BJP MLAs and MPs, stating that while the state government continues to undertake development work, elected representatives from the BJP are not seen involved in such developmental activities.
