Forest workers rescue trapped elephant calf in Sevoke army camp

Siliguri, 22nd June: An elephant calf was rescued from a water tank by the forest workers on Monday morning.


The calf had wandered in the Sevoke army camp from the Mahananda Sanctuary on Sunday evening, and accidentally fell into a water tank.

Following this, the jawans reported the incident to the Salugara Forest Department and Bengal Safari Park authorities. The forest workers reached the spot shortly after and rescued the elephant calf, this morning, after several hours of effort.


According to the Forest Department sources, the calf will be released into the Gorumara forests after initial treatment.
