Siliguri, 21st August: Following a significant raid on a pet shop on Siliguri’s Bidhan Road, the authorities of the forest department successfully apprehended an individual in illegal possession of a wildlife. The incident resulted in the arrest of Raja Pal (24).
Reportedly, on Monday, the forest personnel of the Dabgram range in the Baikunthapur Division carried out a raid based on a tip-off and found a wild parrot while investigating a pet store in the area. Investigations revealed that the bird was put on sale for several days. Similar raids were executed on other pet stores on Bidhan Road led by Assistant Divisional Forest Officer (ADFO) Rajeev Lama.
In response to the event, ADFO Rajeev Lama mentioned receiving the information from unknown sources and stated executing similar raids in the future. At present, the bird has been rescued and further investigation is underway.
