Forest Department’s ‘Tree Ambulance’ to roam around the neighbourhoods of Siliguri

Siliguri, 17th July: Thousands of COVID-19 patients died due to a shortage of oxygen. In such a situation, it would not be wrong to say that the second wave of coronavirus highlighted the critical importance of oxygen and a green environment.

While people are now being aware of the fact, many have come forward to plant more and more plants and tree saplings. Likewise, the forest department has also geared up with the same ideology. A ‘Tree Ambulance’ has been started by the Forest Department in Siliguri. Through the said ambulances, forest workers will be distributing saplings at people’s homes celebrating Van Mahotsav.

Similarly, a tree plantation programme was organized by the Forest Department at the Siliguri Mahila Mahabidyalaya today. During this, forest officers and forest personnel of the Baikunthapur division were present. Later, a ‘Tree Ambulance’ was taken out from the gate of the college in a tableau vehicle decorated with different types of plants. Many people took a variety of plants from the college to plant in their houses.
