Siliguri, 30th September: In a significant development, a major liquor smuggling racket has been busted in Siliguri. The Pradhan Nagar police seized foreign liquor worth lakhs being illegally transported to Bihar concealed in chocolate containers. The incident led to the arrest of the accused, identified as Ajay Kumar Sha, a resident of Chapra in Bihar.
According to reports, the police received a tip-off on Sunday night about a substantial quantity of liquor being smuggled to Bihar from the Siliguri Junction bus stand. Acting on the tip-off, the police conducted a raid at Siliguri Junction and recovered the foreign liquor, estimated worth lakhs, concealed in chocolate boxes.
On Sunday, the accused was produced in court. At present, the police are further investigating the entire incident.
