Siliguri, 21st February: The Food Safety Department conducted a major raid on Saturday in Siliguri, uncovering serious hygiene violations in local businesses. Notices were issued to several establishments to protect public health.
The raid involved officials from the Food Safety Department, Siliguri Municipal Corporation, Fire Department, and Health Department. During inspections, authorities found evidence of artificial coloring in some food items and other serious irregularities.
At “Backyard Bistro,” a cafe near NTS More, rotten food items were recovered from the kitchen. Authorities found worms inside meat, and kitchen utensils were in extremely unhygienic condition. The cafe was subsequently issued a notice.
Similarly, at the sweet shop “Geeta Sweets,” officials observed an unhygienic environment and Meat was found stored inside the shop’s fridge.
Authorities stated that such inspections will continue regularly to ensure the health and safety of Siliguri residents.
