Siliguri, 13th June: In a recent development, the law enforcement of the Pradhan Nagar police station apprehended a group of five miscreants prior to a robbery attempt.
The accused criminals have been identified as Animesh Oraon (24), Sambhu Biswas (29), and Gopal Karmakar (22), from Siliguri and Sailendra Pradhan (28), and Abhishek Rasaily (24), from Kurseong.
As per reports, on Wednesday night, a group of youths had gathered on the riverbed of the Mahananda River intending to execute a robbery. Acting on a tip-off, the Pradhan Nagar police arrived at the location and conducted a raid. During this, the five accused were arrested along with several sharp weapons.
Subsequently, the weapons were confiscated and the accused were produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court. At present, the police have initiated an investigation into the entire incident.
