Five arrested, buffaloes rescued before trafficking attempt in Siliguri

Siliguri, 18th February: NJP Police arrested five persons and rescued several buffaloes before an alleged trafficking attempt on Tuesday night.


The accused have been identified as Md Fajrul Haque, Md Ali, Shah Alam, Javed Ali and Ahar Ali, all residents of Bihar.

According to sources, plainclothes police of NJP Police Station had received specific information that buffaloes were being transported from Bihar to Assam in a ten-wheeler truck. Acting on the tip-off, police set up naka checking at Fulbari and intercepted the vehicle.


During the search, police rescued 18 buffaloes and 18 buffalo calves from the truck. Five persons were arrested in connection with the incident.

The arrested accused were produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Wednesday.
