Rajganj, 20th July: Fish farming has brought a ray of hope to the farmers in the Gajoldoba area under Jalpaiguri district. Farmers of Milan Pally village adjacent to Gajaldoba in Rajganj block cultivate vividly coloured fishes. Last year, they faced problems due to the pandemic, however, this year as the situation normalized to some extent, the farmers are hoping for good profits.
Mithun Malo, a fish farmer, stated that after taking training from South India, he has been cultivating fishes of different species. Apart from Siliguri, these fishes are sold in Malbazar and Jalpaiguri. The business also brings a good profit.
While the farmers faced little difficulties after the outbreak of COVID-19 last year, the farmers are hoping for good profits this year. He further said that he has cultivated fish in around one bigha of land at a cost of 40 thousand rupees which is now being sold for about 1 lakh rupees.
