Siliguri, 21st January: The Shristhishree Fair was inaugurated on Tuesday at Kanchanjunga Stadium in Siliguri by Mayor Gautam Deb, organized by the District Mission Management Unit.
The event was attended by Darjeeling District Magistrate Preeti Goyal, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh of Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, and several other dignitaries. The fair will run until January 27.
The fair features 75 stalls set up by women from self-help groups across various districts, showcasing their handmade products.
During the inauguration, Mayor Gautam Deb highlighted that the state government organizes such fairs to empower women and help them become economically self-reliant. He emphasized that these initiatives are playing a vital role in supporting women’s financial independence.
