Siliguri, 19th March: Panic gripped the area near Siliguri’s Junction Railway Station after a fire broke out in a vacant land in a nearby location.
According to reports, workers operating in the vicinity, including those between the Junction Railway Station and the DEMU shed, observed smoke emerging from the empty space earlier on Tuesday. Subsequently, personnel from the RPF, GRP, and DEMU shed swiftly responded to extinguish the flames. The Fire Department was later notified of the incident. However, due to constraints posed by the railway lines, the Fire Department faced delays in reaching the scene.
In addition, efforts were undertaken to contain the fire using buckets of water. After concerted efforts, the fire was successfully brought under control with the assistance of Fire Department personnel.
