Kharibari, 12th December: A devastating fire in Kharibari’s Kalyanpur area on Thursday reduced two houses to ashes.
Reportedly, the two families had left their homes unattended to attend a nearby event when the fire broke out. Locals noticed flames inside the houses and immediately attempted to control the blaze, but both homes were already engulfed.
A fire engine from the Naxalbari Fire Station reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Initial assessments indicate that a short circuit may have triggered the fire, while a gas cylinder explosion caused it to spread rapidly.
Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad Karmadhyaksha Kishori Mohan Singh and Buraganj Pradhan Anita Roy visited the site and assured full administrative support to the affected families.
