Siliguri, 23rd January: A fire broke out in an abandoned area on JC Bose Road, near Hakima Para, in Siliguri’s Ward No. 16, causing a stir among locals on Thursday afternoon.
According to reports, the fire started suddenly in a pile of garbage at the abandoned site, located near a shop. Upon noticing the flames, locals immediately began efforts to extinguish the fire and informed the fire department.
A fire engine and police personnel from the Panitanki Outpost arrived at the scene promptly. After an hour of effort, the fire was brought under control.
Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar and MMIC Manik Dey visited the site following the incident. Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar assured that the garbage in the area would be cleared.
