Siliguri, 27th June: Panic gripped Hill Cart Road on Friday morning after a fire broke out on an electricity pole in the area. Alert locals quickly informed the fire department after noticing the blaze.
A fire engine, along with personnel from Siliguri police station, promptly reached the spot. Firefighters managed to bring the situation under control within a short time.
According to local residents, the initial pole fire spread to 4 to 5 other electric poles, though the intensity of the fire in those was comparatively low. In the meantime, residents also assisted in controlling the flames. Preliminary reports suggest that the incident was likely caused by a short circuit.
