Siliguri, 10th September: Panic gripped after a fire suddenly broke out at a chowmein factory in Pokai Jote, located in the Champasari area of Siliguri Municipal Corporation’s Ward No. 46, on Thursday.
Local residents noticed smoke coming out of the factory and immediately informed the fire department. Following the information, three fire tenders reached the spot and began efforts to bring the fire under control.
Pradhan Nagar Police also reached the spot after being informed about the incident and monitored the situation.
According to reports, several flammable materials, including chowmein-making ingredients and plastic items, were present inside the factory, raising concerns that the fire could spread rapidly. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after sustained efforts.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The extent of damage has also not been assessed so far. The fire department has started an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
