Naxalbari, 11th February: Financial assistance was provided to two families affected by a devastating fire caused by a short circuit in Dhakna Colony under Maniram Gram Panchayat area of Naxalbari.
The incident, which took place last Saturday, completely gutted one house and partially damaged another.
Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh had visited the spot and assured support to the affected families after speaking with them. Within three days, the promised assistance was delivered.
On the day, accompanied by the Maniram Gram Panchayat Pradhan, the Sabhadhipati handed over cheques of Rs 35,000 to the family whose house was completely destroyed and Rs 25,000 to the partially affected family.
Arun Ghosh stated that the Trinamool government stands by its word and delivers on promises, unlike the BJP, and said the financial aid was provided as assured.
