Final parade rehearsal held in Siliguri ahead of 77th Republic Day

Siliguri, 24th January: With the 77th Republic Day to be celebrated on 26th January, final preparations have begun in Siliguri. As part of the build-up to the main programme, a full-scale parade rehearsal was held on Saturday at the Siliguri Police Commissionerate ground.


As in previous years, the rehearsal was organised ahead of the main Republic Day. A total of 18 contingents took part in the drill, including one contingent of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), teams of students from 14 schools, and three special contingents of the Siliguri Police Commissionerate.

The special police contingents included the Winners Contingent, the Lady Contingent, and the Male Contingent. The parade rehearsal was led by ACP Mohammad Abdul Hai Sardar. Also present were Reserve Inspector Tenzing Lama and Inspector (Headquarters) Ziasuddin Ahmed.


It was announced that Reserve Inspector Tenzing Lama will be the Parade Commander during the main Republic Day programme on 26th January.

With the completion of the rehearsal, preparations by the Siliguri Police Commissionerate have now entered the final stage, aimed at ensuring a smooth and memorable Republic Day celebration.
