Siliguri, 20th May: To fight the deadly coronavirus which has taken the lives of thousands, a field hospital is being built in Siliguri. Arrangements of doctors, nurses and proper oxygen supply are being made. Treatment will be provided free of cost at the hospital.
This comes after reports of an extreme shortage of beds in government hospitals and huge bills at nursing homes surfaced from the city. In such a situation, a field hospital is being constructed in a hall near Tinbatti More in Siliguri. The entire initiative has been taken by three organizations namely Siliguri Welfare Organization, Liver Foundation and Quorum for Humanity.
Initially, there will be 25 oxygen beds. If a patient’s condition deteriorates, they will be rushed to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. It has been learned that work on the field hospital will be completed by the end of this month.
Abhijit Majumder, on behalf of the Siliguri Welfare Organization, said “We have made arrangements of all the medicines and food for patients. Even if the number of patients decreases, the hospital will remain functional for 3 months. Such a hospital is needed if the third wave of the pandemic comes.”
