Siliguri, 05 October: 70-year-old Sahadev Ghosh, resident of Siliguri Municipal Corporation’s Ward No. 25 New Milan Pally area, met the Siliguri SDO today and pleaded for euthanasia stating that he is unable to face torture at the hands of his son. After talking to the elderly father, the SDO assured to look into the matter and take all necessary action.
According to the information, Sahadev Ghosh raised his three children (one daughter and two sons) by working day and night in his paan shop. After his wife passed away a year ago, their youngest son is currently looking after him.
Ghosh stated that he owns 4 kathas of land in the New Milan Pally area. He alleged that his eldest son Joydev Ghosh and his daughter-in-law Jharna Ghosh frequently pressurize him to gift the property to them.
This is causing grave mental and emotional anguish to the elderly man. Hence, he staged a dharna in front of the SDO office on Monday demanding mercy killing if not justice.
Meanwhile, after learning about the whole incident, the SDO has initiated an investigation against the accused and has assured to taken legal action to provide justice to the bereaved father.
