Siliguri, 15th February: The central government is making continuous efforts to create a digital India. The banking sector was initially digitalized. Now, the digitalization process has commenced in the transport department.
From now on, online payment will be done at the toll plaza through the electronic toll collection system ‘FASTag’. The process will be introduced from midnight, failing which a fine will be imposed.
The Central Transport Department has already issued guidelines at the West Matadi Toll Plaza in Phansidewa. From today, all the counters of the toll plaza will be made cashless. Camps have been set up by various banks at the national highways to paste ‘FASTag’ digital stickers on vehicles. The drivers highly praised the initiative taken on behalf of the central government.
The drivers said that this new initiative will provide several benefits.
West Madati Toll Plaza Manager Harman Bird said that the new guidelines has been issued by the Central Department of Transportation. According to the new guidelines, all toll plaza cash counters will be closed and all work will be done online.
