Rajganj, 23rd May: In a significant leap towards modern farming, pesticides were sprayed on jute farmland using drones in the Kalabari area of Belakoba, Rajganj block, on Thursday. Significantly, a private pesticide company demonstrated the process of using drones to spray pesticides on agricultural lands to the farmers.
The farmers in the area were eager to witness the usage of advanced technology for cultivation. According to reports, the drones are capable of spraying pesticides and fertilizers over one acre of land within 15-20 minutes. Additionally, each drone can carry up to 10 liters of pesticide. This as a result facilitates spraying of pesticides and fertilizers over agricultural land in significantly less time.
In this regard, Puja Roy, the first female drone pilot of Jalpaiguri district, highlighted the numerous benefits of using drones for pesticides. She further mentioned that the technology not only saved time and money but also protected farmers from the harmful effects of direct exposure to pesticides.
