Rajganj, 11th April: On Wednesday, farmlands comprising of several vegetables were damaged due to a hailstorm in Takimari area of Rajganj. The damage covered several bighas of farmlands.
According to the locals, the residents of Takimiri I, Takimiri II, Milanpally, Dudhiya Maharaj Ghat of Teesta embankment are primarily dependent on vegetable farming. Similar to previous years, vegetables were cultivated in large areas of land, however, it was destroyed by a hailstorm. The farmers are concerned regarding repayment of loans and sought government assistance.
Upon receiving the news, Rajganj Panchayat Samiti President Rupali Dey Sarkar visited the area on Thursday. She stated that the matter would be informed to the Block Agriculture Officer. Further, she assured to stand with the affected families.
