Siliguri, 08th December: Five days after the body of Saurabh Kumar Roy was found hanging at the Farabari Special Cadre Primary School, the family of the deceased has raised concerns over the lack of investigation into the incident. On Sunday, they held a press conference, alleging that no inquiry has been initiated into the matter so far.
On December 3, the lifeless body of Saurabh Kumar Roy, a teacher at the school, was found hanging. The family accused the school authorities of being responsible for his death, alleging harassment and mistreatment. However, the school management denied all allegations.
The family lodged a complaint immediately after the incident. Despite five days since the incident, they claimed that no investigation had been launched. This prompted them to submit a written complaint to the Ambari Police Station on December 7, demanding a thorough probe.
While speaking to the press, the deceased’s family revealed that the teacher had been subjected to various forms of harassment at school. They claimed that he had often been ridiculed about his personal life, and there were ongoing problems at school that he had been reluctant to discuss openly. Additionally, they alleged that the deceased had raised concerns about corruption in the mid-day meal program, which led to mistreatment from other school staff.
The family has demanded an immediate and proper investigation into the death and demanded apprehension of those responsible. They warned that if justice is not served, they will escalate the matter to higher authorities.
