Siliguri, 06th March: A case of duping a young woman into marriage by lying to her about the man’s job surfaced from the city.
According to the information, the woman who is a resident of Fulbari received a marriage proposal from Shubham Malakar, a resident of the Subhas Pally area. She was told that Shubham worked in a voluntary organization and earned a monthly salary of Rs 8,500. When all talks went well, the duo got married on Friday at the woman’s relative’s house in Shantinagar.
Soon after the marriage, the family of the bride discovered the true lifestyle of the groom. They learnt that the man was a drug addict, undergoing treatment at a rehabilitation centre. The revelation created a stir in the area.
The family of the bride lodged a case against her newly wed husband at Ashighar Outpost Police Station. Based on the complaint, the police has taken the youth into custody.
