Siliguri, 28th July: A shocking incident unfolded in Surya Sen Colony, Siliguri, where a fake doctor was exposed and apprehended for providing unauthorized medical treatment to patients. The accused, identified as Ranjan Das from Rangia area in Assam, was allegedly treating patients without a valid medical degree.
According to local sources, the accused had rented a home in Suryasen Colony (E) block about a month ago. During this time, he purportedly offered medical services to numerous patients at a reduced cost, presenting himself as a doctor in the area. In a highly concerning development, it was alleged that he even performed a tumour surgery within his residence.
The incident came to light when one of his patients fell seriously ill during the course of treatment and was subsequently transferred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. Upon examination, the attending doctors raised doubts about the appropriateness of the treatment provided by the accused.
In response to this discovery, an enraged mob publicly assaulted Ranjan Das on Thursday. To restore order, the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) police intervened, and on Friday, a formal complaint was lodged against the fake doctor. The accused was subsequently presented before the Jalpaiguri court to face legal proceedings. Meanwhile, the NJP police station has launched a thorough investigation into the entire incident.
